CPR+AED course or Standard First Aid (SFA): what is the difference?
CPR+AED is half a day on adult CPR and AED only; SFA is two days and also covers choking, bleeding, fractures, burns and more. Both certificates are valid for two years.
The Singapore Red Cross CPR (Hands-only) + AED Provider Course is 4 hours (half a day) and focuses on chest compressions and AED use for an adult in cardiac arrest. The listed fee is $81.75 including GST.
Standard First Aid with AED (SFA) is 16 hours over two days. Besides CPR and AED, it covers choking, stroke, fits, fainting, allergic reactions, bleeding and bandaging, tourniquets, fractures, burns, poisoning and eye injuries. The listed full fee is $185 before GST, and some learners can get funding.
Both courses are accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC), and the certificates are valid for two years. You can renew with a refresher course from 3 months before to 3 months after expiry; if it has lapsed more than 3 months, you must retake the full course. For first aid for babies and young children, there is also the Child First Aid Course (CFAC, 20 hours).
