Does parent volunteering guarantee a place?

No. Volunteering only makes the child eligible to register in Phase 2B. The parent must join the school no later than 1 July of the year before registration and give at least 40 hours of service by 30 June of the registration year.

Phase 2B places are limited: 20 are reserved in each school, plus one-third of any places left after Phase 2A. If applicants exceed places, MOE runs computerised balloting, with priority for citizens living within 1km of the school, then 1–2km, then beyond 2km, followed by Permanent Residents in the same distance order.

A child who is not successful can still register in Phase 2C and Phase 2C Supplementary.
